On this day in 2841 T. A., Thrain departed for Erebor and was never seen
again.
The date has been amended in the second edition of "The Hobbit". In the Shire Reckoning, however, 21 April is Friday (or Highday). The origin of this
discrepancy is discussed in our companion volume "The Moon on the Hobbit".
